Several Fellow Countries To Participate In National Press Day 2017

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Several representatives from fellow countries will participate in the commemoration of the National Press Day 2017 in Ambon, Maluku province, an organizer, Bob Iskandar, said here on Tuesday.

He added the National Press Day commemoration this year will be the same as the one held in Lombok, "HPN 2016", West Nusa Tenggara that was participated by foreign guests.

"At least ten ambassadors will attend the event. There are six ambassadors who have confirmed to attend, namely Vietnam, Russia, the Philippines, Slovakia, Pakistan, and North Korea," Bob noted.

Meanwhile, the ambassadors of Croatia, Austria, Malaysia, South Korea, China and Suriname will confirm their presence, he added.

According to him, apart from ambassadors from those fellow countries, some representatives of international organizations will also attend the event.

He estimated three representatives from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will attend the annual event.

Bob said foreign journalists will also gather with Indonesian journalists in Ambon.

"Confederation of ASEAN Journalists will send eight representatives to Ambon," he said, adding that six delegates of the All China Journalists Association (ACJA) and two South Korean journalists who join in Jakarta Foreign Correspondent Club (JFCC) have confirmed to participate in the national event.

"The number of foreign guests will continue to increase. We are still waiting for confirmation of their presence until the end of this month," Bob said.

The Indonesian National Press Day 2017 will be held in Ambon, Maluku province on February 1 - 9. The top event will be on February 9, and expected to be attended by President Joko Widodo. (WDY)
