Bali To Host Asia Pacific Scout Summit Opening On Saturday

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Asia Pacific scout leaders will meet at the  9th Asia Pacific Regional (APR) Scout Leaders Summit 2017  to be held in Bali from April 22 to 25.

The scout leaders will discuss big and important programs  and to deal with challenges faced  and to be faced by the regional scout organizations, Brata Hardjosubroto of the Indonesian scout movement said in statement here on Thursday.

Without going into details about the programs and challenges, Brata said the leaders would discuss the direction and steps to be taken by scouts including preparation for 41th World Scout Conference in Baku Azerbaijan, in August this year  and the 27th Asia Pacific Scout Conference  in the Philippines in 2018.

Attending the Bali meeting  will include scout leaders from  Australia, Bangladesh,  Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Taiwan, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kiribati, South Korea, the Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka  and Thailand.

Indonesian Scout Movement has the largest members in the world estimated at  17,200,595 members  based on data at the National Congress  in 2013. With the large members the Indonesian Scout Movement is highly reckoned internationally especially in the education of youths, Brata said. (WDY)
