Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu encouraged collective and global efforts to combat terrorism and cyber attacks.

"The current real threats that we need to be seriously concerned about are terrorism, cybercrime, and drugs," he noted while speaking at the 1st Indonesia International Defense Science Seminar in Sentul, West Java Province, on Wednesday.

He emphasized that the threats are cross-regional and global, so there is a need for collective handling and joint action by countries.

Ryacudu stated that the threats must be dealt through collaboration of global capabilities and interactions between countries to discuss greater efforts to combat the crime.

"Terrorism is the enemy of the international community and all nations. It is not only the enemy of a group, the police, or Indonesian military, but it is also the enemy of the people of the world. Hence, we must jointly overcome it," he emphasized.

He pointed out that ego-sectoral issues between parties or institutions in a country must be eliminated, as every party and country needs to cooperate together to undertake global efforts to counter terrorism.

Meanwhile, the participation of the community is necessary to build unity, mobilize abilities, and counteract the notion of radicalism and terrorism.

The seminar themed "New Thinking for Strategic Policy in the Field of Security, Stability, and Humanities Affairs in Region of Asia Pacific and Oceania" was organized by the Defense University of Indonesia.

The seminar was attended by representatives from some defense universities in the world, including the US, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and Australia.(*)
