Indonesian Violinist Performs In Moscow

Moscow (Antara Bali) - Indonesian violinist Mia Ismia Halida performed on Thursday at the Moscow State University to enliven the promotion of "Second Track Diplomacy" program by Indonesia's Communication and Informatics Ministry in Russia and Belarus on September 16-22.

"I think art and cultural performances are other ways to promote Indonesia abroad. Through these performances, we can attract viewers in the destination country while also promoting Indonesia to them. Whenever I perform, I always wear Batik (Indonesian traditional clothes) and even my violin is painted with Batik motifs," Mia stated.

During her performance at the Moscow State University, Mia played Indonesian folk songs such as Bengawan Solo, Rayuan Pulau Kelapa, and Halo-Halo Bandung on her violin.

In the meantime, head of the Indonesian delegation during the visit to Moscow and Director General of Information and Public Communication Freddy H. Tulung noted that the role of second track diplomacy needs to be enhanced in the future.

Second track diplomacy can support formal diplomacy conducted by Indonesian diplomats abroad, Tulung affirmed. (WDY)
