Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Valiollah Mohammadi met Vice President Jusuf Kalla on Thursday to discuss plans for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, nuclear technology, and banking.
"Considering the potential for cooperation between the two countries, we discussed the sectors that can be explored such as cultural, social, economic, trade, and investment. Besides this, the Islamic Republic of Iran will realize several agreements with Indonesia," Mohammadi stated after the meeting with Kalla.
He remarked that bilateral relations between Iran and Indonesia are rooted in history, and thus, there was great determination among the leaders of the two countries to develop further cooperation.
"We discussed about what was agreed during the joint commission meeting in the economic field in Iran some time ago, and the leaders and high-ranking officials of both countries are determined to expand it further," he noted.
In the meantime, senior adviser to Vice President Jusuf Kalla Dewi Fortuna Anwar affirmed that during the meeting with Kalla, Mohammadi confirmed that three delegations from Iran will visit Indonesia.
The three delegations are related to the fields of science and advanced technology, oil, and Iran's central bank.
"The Iranian ambassador stated that in the near future, three delegations from Iran will visit Indonesia. The first delegation will be from the field of science and advanced technology in nuclear energy," Dewi revealed.
According to Dewi, Vice President Kalla welcomed Iran's willingness to cooperate in the nuclear field for peaceful purposes, as Indonesia has long shown its readiness to cooperate with other countries in developing nuclear power. (WDY)
